Q & A: Can I get a clean install on a new hard drive with my recovery disk that came with my laptop?

request of Treblacram : Can I have a clean installation on a new hard drive with my recovery disk that came with my laptop? My laptop hard drive is too little anymore, & I would like into install a larger one. I have nothing against the old format or make a clean installation for everything all over again. I just need more space! I’ve got a recovery CD for my laptop with Windows XP Home & all my other work settings into them. Will this work okay for a new installation? Best answer:

  1. SupportTeam2008 Says:

    Sure!
Just remove the old Hard drive ( and you can get external case and use your old hard drive as external hard drive)
and install the New Hard drive
Insert the recovery disk to the DVD Drive and you are ready to go – the a recovery disk will format the computer and install windows and all the drivers
    Good Luck

yes, just replace the hard drive, then insert the recovery disc and restart the pc, it will say press any key to boot from disc, press a key and follow the instructions for a clean install, you will need to partition and format the drive when it gives you the option to do so. if it doesnt say to boot from disc you will need to go into the bios and set the first boot device to cd rom and try again
